Now providing Telehealth appointments and sliding-scale rates
Our mission at Bloom Therapy is to provide individuals with therapeutic support, understanding and insight to live their best life. In addition, it is our goal to reduce stigma and other barriers that prevent individuals from engaging in mental health services through education and advocacy.
Each person has unique circumstances and therefore the focus of each session is different for everyone. We provide a safe, supportive environment with a trained professional in evidence-based therapies to facilitate the changes that you want. With some personal effort, counseling can produce positive, lasting results.
Over 17 million Americans have had a depressive episode within the past year. Depression has more symptoms than just feeling sad- such as loss of energy, loss of concentration, loss of interest, changes in sleep (too much or too little), changes in appetite, and irritability. When symptoms persist for 2 weeks, it is best to take action by seeing a mental health professional (source: nami.org).
At Bloom Therapy, we understand that it is not easy or fun to talk about negative feelings. Sometimes verbalizing our thoughts and feelings, processing our experiences freely in a therapeutic space, can stimulate realizations that promote progress. In addition, we can provide skills to combat and prevent depressive symptoms for meaningful results. Consider the individual and group counseling services that we offer.
Everyone experiences stress, it is a part of the human experience. Some stress is just simply too intense to handle alone. Stress can be tolerated by using effective coping strategies or learning new skills. Stress that becomes unmanagable can turn into anxiety. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health condition in the United States. Feeling overwhelmed, worried, frustrated/agitated, and/or fearful are symptoms of anxiety. (source: nami.org)
We can equip you with techniques to manage anxiety and stress effectively. If you are open to groups, think about joining the Dialectical Behavior Therapy group we offer, in addition to individual sessions.
Many of us have heard of postpartum depression, but there are other mental conditions that may occur during pregnancy and after birth or postpartum. Perinatal refers to the timeframe from pregnancy through 12 months postpartum. Studies have shown that women with postpartum depression often demonstrated signs of depression during pregnancy. There are so many physical, emotional and mental changes during this time period that it deserves more attention. Research has told us that more support is needed not only for mothers, but also for spouses/partners/coparents. We offer both individual and group counseling sessions with a perinatal mental health specialist.
